Thunderbirds To Fill Tampa's Skies
You can expect crowd skies and streets this weekend in south Tampa as the MacDill Air Fest takes off. Admission is free and so is the parking, so, it's expected to draw 100,000 people.
MacDill Air Force Base, 6801 S. Dale Mabry Highway, will open three gates to the public, at Dale Mabry, Tanker Way and MacDill Ave., starting at 8 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. The gates close at 5 p.m.
Opening ceremonies are scheduled at 11:15 – followed by the airshow.
And the Air Fest will have bombers, fighters, and gunships for the public to check out on the flight line and a variety of food vendors. And there will be a commemorative tribute to the "Red Tail Squadron" - the Tuskegee Airmen - with its RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit.
Or you can bring your own folding chairs and small umbrellas because the show will go on – rain or shine – according to MacDill officials.
