Florida Scientists Press Governor On Climate Change

A group of Florida scientists concerned about climate change in their state are asking to meet with Florida Governor Rick Scott, who has denied the effect of man-made climate change.

Today’s Miami Herald reports that political action committees on both sides of the climate change issue are active in Florida, trying to affect policy and public opinion in the state ahead of the gubernatorial election this November.

Jeff Chanton, an oceanography professor at Florida State University, is part of the group pushing to meet with Gov. Scott. He talks to Here & Now’s Jeremy Hobson about message he wants to give the governor.
