A University of South Florida communications official accused of creating a hostile work environment has resigned. Michael Hoad, who as vice president of communications was the face of the university during such events as the firing of football coach Jim Leavitt and the acrimonious split of the Florida Polytechnic campus from USF, resigned effective Friday.
