Sarasota Police have completed the fatal crash investigation which killed well-known philanthropists Charles and Margery Barancik.

The couple died in December after a Longboat Key Police SUV collided with the Barancik's Tesla. Charles Barancik, 91, died the night of the crash. His wife Margery, 83, suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where she died the next day.

The university announced local philanthropists Jugal and Manju Taneja have donated $10 million to the school, which will now be known as the USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy.

The University of South Florida received the largest financial gift offered to a pharmacy school in the state on Friday, and renamed its school for the donors.

Surplus Medical Supplies to Help Syrian Refugees

A 40-foot container with a $100,000 worth of medical supplies will be leaving Tampa on Friday. It's headed to Turkey, where it will then be distributed to field hospitals inside Syria that treat refugees and others.

USF student Noor Shakfeh, a Syrian-American, is collaborating with the non-profit Advocates for World Health (AWH) to bring a container with medical supplies, like dialysis and ventilator machines, to the Syrian American Medical Society.
