Senior citizens in Pinellas and Pasco may soon have low-sodium Chinese food delivered right to their doorstep.

The Area Agency on Aging of Pinellas-Pasco “Dining Out at Home” program plans to connect seniors staying at home because of the coronavirus with freshly cooked meals from local restaurants.

State lawmakers are considering a bill (HB 1061SB 1042 ) to protect the largest seagrass bed in the Gulf of Mexico. There are 400,000 acres of underwater plants in the Nature Coast, but the coastline of Pasco, Citrus and Hernando counties has not been preserved.

A Pasco County sheriff’s corporal, whose gun accidentally fired in a busy middle school cafeteria nearly six months ago, caused the accident himself by “fidgeting” with his gun and has been fired after an investigation, authorities announced Wednesday.

State lawmakers walked back from plans to dissolve the city of Port Richey Friday after hundreds of city residents came out - many to support their hometown.

At the Pasco County Legislative Delegation meeting, three state senators and three representatives for the county decided more information was needed, and agreed to table the bill until after a state audit of the city’s finances is complete.

Another 53 Hepatitis A Cases Reported in Florida

Florida had 53 new hepatitis A cases reported last week, bringing the total number of cases since January to 2,034, according to the state Department of Health.

Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30. Emergency management officials say it's important residents know which evacuation zone they live in. Florida residents should have an evacuation plan in place before a storm is on the radar. 

  

When counties mandate evacuations, they will do it by zones A-E. The zones are set based on a home’s vulnerability to deadly storm surge, with Zone A being most vulnerable. Evacuation zones are not the same as FEMA flood zone designations.
