According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, American Indian and Alaska Native people suffer some of the poorest health outcomes in the United States.

But 90% of U.S. medical schools have three or fewer native students.

The Hillsborough County School Board met on Tuesday to reconsider the removal of Native American mascots from half a dozen schools. But instead of stopping the process, they are only going to slow it down a little. 

Six schools in Hillsborough County are removing mascots that depict Native Americans as Braves, Indians, Warriors or Chiefs, and will replace them with something new.
