CVS Health is now planning to treat kidney failure patients, as the national drugstore chain continues to branch deeper into monitoring and providing care.

Mary Lumapas is in her third year studying cell and molecular biology at the University of South Florida, but, because of health problems, she’s a sophomore.

You see, for most of her life, the 21-year-old from Lecanto has been battling cancer.

“Three cancer diagnoses, two of which are Wilms tumor, the last one was myelodysplastic syndrome, which is also (called) MDS,” Lumapas explained, running down her list of major ailments.

Ronald Yaffe of Sarasota is fighting stage-four kidney disease, hoping for a transplant, so he will need thousands of dollars each month for drugs. But when he went to Wells Fargo with $11,800 in cashier’s checks, the bank refused to honor them, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports. So Yaffe took the bank to court, and the judge sided with the patient. But the bank has appealed.
