Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival

The annual Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival is back in town until October 13th. It will feature over 63 films from 17 countries, and showcase major names like Molly Shannon, Matt Smith and Paul Rudd.

The 18th Annual Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival is Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2 at the Regal Hollywood in Sarasota. It features movies by and about women and benefits the U.S. National Committee for UN (United Nations) Women.

Before each feature film at the Cannes Film Festival, an enchanting piece of music from Camille Saint-Saen's Carnival of the Animals, plays. For me, it reinforced the magical nature of attending one of the world's most important film venues. 

BLUE Ocean Film Festival Comes to St. Petersburg

The Blue Ocean film festival is taking place this week in St. Petersburg, running through the weekend. It celebrates the best films about the ocean in 2014.

The festival features 160 finalists, movies such as Gisela Kaufman’s “Shark Girl”, Angela Sun’s “Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch”and John Bowermaster’s “Wild Antarctica 3D." Academy Award winner James Cameron will have a special screening of his film, “James Cameron's Deep Sea Challenge 3D."
