Monday marks the fourth straight day the number of new positive coronavirus tests exceeded 10,000 in Florida.

According to the Florida Department of Health's Monday report, 282,435 people have now tested positive for the coronavirus in the state - an increase of 12,624 positive tests since Sunday.

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman on Tuesday warned that the city might need to take additional action if the recent surge in coronavirus cases in Pinellas County doesn’t ease.

Pinellas County will open a new drive-through COVID-19 testing site Wednesday at the Duke Energy for the Arts Mahaffey Theater in St Petersburg.

People do not need to have symptoms to get tested.

Florida surpassed the 200,000 mark of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday as Pinellas County reported 14 coronavirus-related deaths – the highest one-day amount for the county since the pandemic began.

According to the Florida Department of Health's Tuesday report, 103,503 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the state - an increase of 3,286 positive tests since Monday.

In the Tampa Bay area, the state reported 599 more people tested positive in a 24-hour period. Pasco County reported its highest daily increase in new cases, with 82 since Monday’s report.

The Tampa Bay area continues to see unsurpassed numbers of new coronavirus cases, with 551 more people testing positive since Tuesday.

It’s the first time the regional daily increase in the number of people testing positive has topped 500.

Florida health officials reported the highest daily increase in new coronavirus infections in the state Thursday.

The Department of Health reported an additional 1,698 positive coronavirus tests since Wednesday, bringing the number of people who have tested positive to 69,069.

Florida health officials reported the highest daily increase in new coronavirus infections in the Tampa Bay area Wednesday.

The Florida Department of Health report released Friday shows the Tampa Bay area is seeing the highest number of new coronavirus infections in a one-week period, with 1,099 positive tests.

Previously, the most new infections in a week in the region was 857; recorded the week ending April 3.
