Expect “virtual” or expanded FastPass-style lines, staggered seating on rides, online food ordering and limited crowds when Florida’s major theme parks eventually reopen after being shuttered during the coronavirus pandemic.

Fifth Third Bank said Friday it will resume contributions to the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program, reversing course after saying it would stop contributing over concerns about vouchers going to schools with anti-LGBTQ policies.

Under legislation passed last year, the University of South Florida has until next summer to bring the accreditation of its three campuses under one umbrella.

But when System President Steven Currall presented a consolidation plan to the USF Board of Trustees last month, it drew criticism from some students and faculty, as well as lawmakers, who blasted it for giving too much control over USF St. Petersburg and USF Sarasota-Manatee to leaders on the Tampa campus.

House Rules Chairman Chris Sprowls, R-Palm Harbor, was formally chosen Tuesday by his Republican colleagues to become the next House speaker. Sprowls will take the gavel after the November 2020 elections and serve as speaker for two years.

A House panel Tuesday quickly approved two high-profile bills that would revamp health-care regulations --- and are drawing opposition from at least parts of the hospital industry.

Two very different alcohol measures came before their final committee Wednesday.  But even though they began to converge, only one passed its final stop.

The Senate Commerce and Tourism committee took up the state’s growler ban Monday.  Measures doing away with the state’s restriction continue to march forward in both chambers of the Legislature.
