The Camp Fire's death toll is 88, while 158 remain missing, the Butte County Sheriff said in a tweet Tuesday night. Searchers found no new remains on Tuesday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has traced an ongoing E. coli outbreak to romaine lettuce grown in the Central Coastal region of California.

Lettuce from other parts of the U.S. and Mexico is safe to eat, the CDC says. However, if you're not sure where your romaine lettuce came from, err on the side of caution and throw it out, health experts say.

A total of 43 people in 12 states have been infected in this outbreak. No deaths have been reported.

The death toll as a result of the Camp Fire in northern California now stands at 83, after local authorities said that two more sets of human remains were found Wednesday.

According to the Butte County Sheriff's Department, 563 people remain unaccounted for. That's 307 fewer than on Tuesday.

Fire investigators in Northern California say they found the human remains of 6 more individuals, bringing the death toll to at least 48 people who have died in the wildfire that burned through the town of Paradise with shocking speed, making the Camp Fire the deadliest wildfire in state history.

Fire crews are working to fight that blaze, along with another large wildfire in Southern California, where at least two deaths have been reported.

A lone gunman carrying a .45-caliber pistol killed 12 people at a country music bar in Thousand Oaks, Calif., late Wednesday, authorities say. When the shooting started, the Borderline Bar & Grill likely held hundreds of people, drawn by the weekly "College Country Night."

Almost a month after a pair of University of South Florida students traveling in California apparently died in a car accident, their bodies still have yet to be recovered.

Bhakapon Chairattanasongporn, 28, and Thiwadee Saengsuriyarit, 24, are believed to have died when their car crashed July 26 on a freeway east of Fresno in the steep Sierra Nevada mountains.

Authorities in California say they're struggling to recover two bodies from a car that crashed down a cliff two weeks ago and landed in the middle of a raging river.

Thailand's Consulate in Los Angeles says it believes the bodies belong to two Thai students who attend the University of South Florida and were vacationing in California.
