Isaias Leaves the Sunshine State Mostly Unscathed

Aug 5, 2020

Isaias may have spared the Sunshine State earlier this week, but the peak of hurricane season has only just begun, as nearly 80 percent of all tropical storms occur in August, September and October.

Updated at 12:15 a.m. ET Wednesday

Isaias, now a post-tropical cyclone, is still bringing strong winds, heavy rainfall and the threat of tornadoes as it moves into southeastern Canada after passing through southern and central New England.

As of 11 p.m. ET, the National Hurricane Center said the storm was about 45 miles south-southeast of Montreal, and clocking maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.

After skirting the east coast of Florida throughout the weekend, Tropical Storm Isaias is poised to exit the state on a path to the Carolinas as a hurricane once again.
