Gov. Ron DeSantis requested $4 billion to expedite 20 highway projects spanning from Central Florida to South Florida, under the banner of “Moving Florida Forward.”

The cancer treatment attacks tumors more accurately than traditional radiation. Tampa Bay residents haven't been able to access it in the region yet.

The purchase is expected to be final in November, and the final zoning approval is expected by the end of the year.

Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoed line items in the upcoming state budget that would have helped pay for a new Moffitt Cancer Center campus and spring training facility in Pasco County.

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a record $109.9 billion budget for the fiscal year that will begin July 1, but vetoes included funds for a Pasco sports complex and an H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center facility in Pasco County.

Included in the budget is $35 million for a "Sports Training and Youth Tournament Complex" that potentially could be used to bring the Rays to Pasco County for spring training.

The planned life sciences innovation district will serve as a hub for cancer research, education and patient care.

Among the budget items agreed upon is $20 million a year for 30 years to help finance a Moffitt Cancer Center expansion in Pasco County, and suspending state gas taxes in October.

Moffitt Cancer Center helped study the imaging drug, which the FDA recently approved. It draws attention to hard-to-spot tumors during surgery.

Speaking at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, where she’s undergoing cancer treatment, first lady Casey DeSantis said funds would go to Moffitt, the Sylvester center in Miami and UF Health Cancer Center.

Moffitt and a developer say the 4.5 acre site will include "a mixed-use modern family residential tower," along with shops, restaurants, public parking and a headquarters for United Insurance Holdings.

The five-year grant from the National Cancer Institute will support the research of Moffitt’s Lung Cancer Metabolism Group, which is working on four projects to develop new therapies.
