This week on Florida Matters we're taking another listen to our discussion about foster care in the region.

The number of children being removed from their homes and placed into foster care has increased dramatically over the past few years. And at the same time, overdose deaths from drugs like heroin and fentanyl have spiked, particularly in areas like Manatee and Sarasota Counties.

As Florida Matters' Stephanie Colombini reports in this preview, there's a connection there.

Click here to read the full story, and learn more about foster care this evening on Florida Matters at 6:30, or Sunday morning at 7:30 on WUSF 89.7.
