Tampa's City Council District 6 runoff elections are Tuesday.
District 6 covers the areas of West Tampa, Seminole Heights and parts of South Tampa.
Guido Maniscalco is going up against his District 6 runoff opponent, Jackie Toledo.
Toledo won 46 percent of the votes in the primary election but failed to win the seat outright. With low voter turnout expected for the runoff election, Maniscalco said he hopes more people make the effort to get out and vote.
"Anything is possible, you know we just, we try to just reach out to as many people as possible to get our message out there, and just hope for a solid turnout," Maniscalco said.
"And of course, you know, everybody wants a victory, so you know, we're hoping for that."
Both candidates' campaigns have experienced some heat from outside groups.
The Florida Democratic Party paid for mailers attacking Toledo, a Republican, while a political action committee called Moving Tampa Forward sent out mailers targeting Maniscalco. Toledo said she wants voters to know the attack ads are coming from third parties.
"I had nothing to do with all the negative attacks that have been out there by third parties," Toledo said.
"My campaign has been very positive, the disclaimers that are written, mailers, the ones that have my name on it, are all positive."
The polls are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
