Efforts to Expand Gambling in Florida to End
This year's quest to broaden gaming in Florida has come to an end.
Sen. Garrett Richter, R-Naples, said during session Thursday that negotiations between the state and the Seminole Indian tribe over gaming have hindered other proposals.
The Seminole tribe operates seven gaming establishments in the state. Gov. Rick Scott has been in contractual meetings with the tribe for a deal that is expected to earn the state $234 million this year.
Major bills have been introduced this legislative session in an attempt to broaden and expand Florida's gaming sector, as well as introduce a formal, dedicated oversight commission
