A Former Alabama Democrat On A Former Florida Republican
Former U.S. Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama has one big thing in common with Florida Gov. Charlie Crist: They are both taking a starring role for a political party they once opposed.
Davis is a one-time leader in the Democratic Party and President Obama's first campaign. Crist left the Republican Party prior to the primary in 2010 during a failed U.S. Senate run.
But Davis wasn't all that interested in comparing his experience with Crist's.
"I don't know much about Gov. Crist other that he was governor and lost badly in the Senate race," Davis said during a swing through radio row Monday. "I don't know enough about Gov. Crist's record. I can only speak for myself, but ultimately I don't see the Democratic Party today as being in the same place it used to be so that's why I left it."
