RNC Protestors Expected to Arrive in Waves
As many as 5,000 protestors are expected to descend on Tampa for the convention next week. The Coalition to March on the RNC held a press conference on Friday to talk about their planned march for Monday.
Attendance was small at the press conference, but few expect it to stay that way.
Joe Iosbaker is a spokesperson for the United National Anti-War Coalition. He says you can liken protestors to cars in traffic.
"You stand by the side of the road and a few cars go by," says Iosbaker. "But it gets to be 3:30pm or 4:00pm and rush hour hits."
Rush hour starts this Sunday afternoon with a march on the RNC Kickoff Party in downtown St. Petersburg. Here's a map of parking restrictions for that event.
The rush continues Monday morning with a big march through downtown Tampa. The planned route begins outside of the restricted zone, and makes its way to the sanctioned protest zone outside the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
