The Florida Department of Education has released the results for standardized tests students took this spring.

The scores include the Florida Standards Assessments in reading and math.

All of Florida's exams are scored on a system of 1 to 5, with a score of 3 considered passing or at grade level.

Most Tampa Bay school districts were near the state average of 53 percent for reading in grades 3 through 10. The lowest scores were in Polk County. Sarasota students scored the highest.

In Math, 60 percent of Florida students in grades 3 through 8 passed.

Tampa Bay's two biggest school districts scored slightly below the state average.

56 percent of students in Hillsborough County, 59 percent in Pinellas County.

73 percent of Sarasota County students achieved a passing math grade or better, that's among the state's highest.
