Tampa Bay Graduation Rates Continue To Climb

Both Pinellas and Hillsborough County exceeded the state-wide average in the 2016/17 school year.

The graduation rate for Tampa Bay schools reach above 80 percent for the first time in recent history.

Hillsborough County saw the largest bump in graduation rates among its high school students, climbing to nearly 83 percent from 79.1 percent. Hernando County grew the slowest, gaining just 1.5 percentage points to 82.6 percent from 81.1 percent.

The state-wide graduation rate for the 2016/17 school year was 82.3 percent. It is a 14-year high, according to the Florida Department of Education. 

Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties, the area's largest exceeded the statewide average, as did Hernando County. Manatee's graduation rate was 81.1 percent.
