The Hillsborough County Commission has agreed to lease land to the City of Tampa for the Al Lopez Baseball Museum.

The museum would be located at 19th Street and 9th Avenue in Ybor City.

The Lopez family home will be moved from its current site on 12th Avenue East.  The Florida Department of Transportation acquired the land for Interstate 4 expansion.  It will take about six months to move the house.

Baseball Hall of Fame catcher and manager Al Lopez was the first Tampa native to play in the major leagues.  He died in 2005.
