Lecture: Saket Soni, author of The Great Escape

The Leif Nissen Social Justice Lecture Series presents Saket Soni, author of The Great Escape: A True Story of Forced Labor and Immigrant Dreams in America

Saket is recognized as a national expert on post-disaster economies, immigrant rights and the future of work. He was profiled as an “architect of the next labor movement” in USA Today, and he has testified before Congress and at the United Nations. Saket’s advocacy efforts have been featured on NPR, in Time, and on the front page of The New York Times. His writings have appeared in the L.A. Times, The Hill, The Nation, Latino Journal, Talking Points Memo and on CNN.com. He is the author of The Great Escape: A True Story of Forced Labor and Immigrant Dreams in America, which the New York Times described as “a must read.”

The event is free and open to the public. Q/A and a lite supper will follow the lecture. On site book sales by Tombolo Books.

The Leif Nissen Social Justice Lecture Series is sponsored by Karen Lieberman and Bruce Nissen to honor their son Leif (May 21st, 1980 – November 19th, 2008) of blessed memory. Leif was dedicated to social justice issues and his family is choosing to honor him through these lectures. The series is supported by the Temple Beth-El Social Justice Committee.
