Hillsborough County Small Businesses Hurt by TS Debby Can Get Help

Hillsborough County small businesses damaged by Tropical Storm Debby can get some help from the US Small Business Administration.

Small agriculture and aquaculture businesses, most private non-profit organizations, and landlords who lost revenue on their rental properties can apply for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan.

These small interest loans can help with the recovery from financial and working capital losses for businesses whose insurance didn't cover it.

Hillsborough County Emergency Management director Preston Cook says these loans can be helpful for small business owners.

"They work and live day to day and when you talk about the loss of income for a day when you still have bills that have to be paid," said Cook, "you still have employees that have to be paid, you still have supplies that have to be purchased so that you can continue to operate when you get back up, that hurts that bottom line tremendously."

The deadline to apply is April 3rd 2013.

This loan program also extends to those eligible in Pinellas and Pasco counties.
