Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran wants to divert almost $70 million from the state affordable housing trust fund to other issues.

“Yeah we swept some of the additional money and that additional money now goes to helping with things like schools of hope.  And we think that’s a better way of spending taxpayers’ money.”

Schools of hope is a House plan making it easier for charters to take over struggling schools.  Under Corcoran’s spending plan, the two primary affordable housing programs would have access to about 100 million dollars in funding for the coming year.
