Energy Regulators In The Hot Seat This Session
The Public Service Commission is the subject of a number of bills expected to come up next legislative session, including one filed by Sen. JohnLegg (R-Lutz)
“What it does is it requires individuals who serve on the Public Service Commission to come from geographical regions of the state that are represented by the courts and the court jurisdiction," Legg says. "And the reason for that is there’s been some considerable concern over the lack of understanding of what constituents go through from the Public Service Commission.”
Legg’sbill would also create term limits for how long a commissioner can serve and would impose a cooling-off period lawmakers must observe before taking a job with the commission.
