Safeguarding the Data Brokerage Industry, Part I

The data brokerage industry has come under intense scrutiny with the disclosure of two high-profile identity theft cases. ChoicePoint Inc. recently revealed that its system had been infiltrated in 2004, compromising the personal information of as many as 145,000 U.S. residents. And, just last week, LexisNexis discovered that hackers had accessed the profiles of nearly 32,000 of its customers. NPR's Farai Chideya has a special report.
