New Telescope Brings Stars Closer to Earth

A new observatory based on a 100-year-old concept is nearing completion outside Flagstaff, Ariz. The optical interferometer combines the light from several telescopes, providing a more detailed view of stars than any single telescope could produce on its own. NPR's Joe Palca reports for Morning Edition. June 14, 2002.
