St. Petersburg Police Shoot Car Theft Suspect

An officer-involved shooting took place early this morning near the intersection of 20th Avenue S and 11th Street in St. Petersburg, the Tampa Bay Times reports. As police investigated the theft of two vehicles, a man attempted to flee in a stolen Ford F-150 pickup. Officer Brian Fernandez, 29, fired at the man several times. The suspect was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with critical injuries.
ST. PETERSBURG - Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place early Monday morning near the intersection of 20th Avenue S and 11th Street. According to St. Petersburg Police Department spokesperson Bill Proffitt, police received reports that two vehicles, a Ford F-150 pickup and a GMC Envoy SUV, had been stolen in a northern area of the city.
