Twenty years ago next month, the University of South Florida football team took to the field of Houlihan's Stadium for its first game.

Since that 80-3 trouncing of Kentucky Wesleyan, the enduring question has been if the Bulls would ever play in a stadium on their Tampa campus.

A feasibility study released Tuesday may bring an answer.

A former University of South Florida football player who was arrested for an on-campus sexual battery last week is back in jail after being arrested for another alleged assault this past March.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says LaDarrius Jackson, 22, sexually battered a woman he knew in the bathroom of her Hillsborough County home March 27.

The judge who questioned University of South Florida football coach Charlie Strong's control of the program following the arrests of two players has recused herself from one of their cases. 

ESPN reports that Hillsborough County judge and USF alumna Margaret Taylor submitted an order of disqualification Thursday morning after her earlier comments received national attention. Filing such an order removes her from as the judge in the LaDarrius Jackson case.

Tampa police have charged a University of South Florida football player who was shot this past weekend in what they call a "road-rage incident."

A University of South Florida football player is in stable condition after being shot Saturday night in what Tampa police call a "road-rage incident." 

Hassan Childs, 22, a senior defensive back from Kissimmee, was shot three times in the incident at Eagles Point Apartments in the 14000 block of 46th Street, just north of the USF Golf Course.

According to a Tampa police statement, Childs was shot by Jovanni Jimenez, 26, after allegedly pointing a gun at Jimenez and his wife. Jimenez, a Tampa resident, told police he shot Childs in self defense.

The University of South Florida's Quinton Flowers says there were a lot of big-name college football programs that thought he could be a star player. As a running back. Or maybe as a safety.

But Flowers knew he could be a great quarterback. And on Thursday in the Birmingham Bowl against a team from the Southeastern Conference, he proved it once again.

Flowers ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more — including what proved to be the winner in overtime — to help No. 25 South Florida beat South Carolina 46-39.

Days after he signed a five year, $9.8 million contract, Charlie Strong was formally introduced as the new head coach of the University of South Florida football team Thursday.

An eventful eight days for the University of South Florida football team saw them accept a bowl game bid, lose head coach Willie Taggart to Oregon and then replace him with a new leader - Charlie Strong.

USF released a statement Sunday afternoon saying the former University of Texas coach would be taking over the Bulls. Strong will formally be introduced as the coach Thursday, Dec. 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the USF Marshall Student Center.

For the third time in seven years, the University of South Florida is looking for a new head football coach.

Willie Taggart resigned Wednesday, four years to the day he took the USF job. He's been named the new head coach at the University of Oregon.

After one of the best regular seasons in team history, the University of South Florida Bulls football team will play the University of South Carolina in the Birmingham Bowl on December 29.

The University of South Florida Board of Trustees held its final scheduled meeting of 2016 in Tampa Thursday, and financial matters for students and System President Judy Genshaft were among the biggest items on the agenda.

The trustees approved a $168,875 bonus for Genshaft, which was doled out in two parts.

One of the two University of South Florida football players suspended after being charged with firing a gun on campus last year has been reinstated to the team.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, senior cornerback Lamar Robbins was reinstated after charges were dropped.

While the University of South Florida football team celebrates its longest winning streak in five seasons, they're also dealing with the arrest of three players in as many weeks.

As the University of South Florida football team celebrated its third straight victory, another of its players was arrested early Sunday morning - the third this month.

According to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office report, Deangelo Antoine, 19, was arrested early Sunday morning on the Tampa campus and charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance.

Antoine, a freshman wide receiver, did not play in USF's 38-14 victory over Southern Methodist University Saturday.

Another USF football player has been arrested in connection with the discharge of a handgun on campus early Sunday morning.

Lamar Robbins, 22, of Miami,  has been taken into custody by university police. He was being held this morning at the Hillsborough County Jail with bail set at $8,000. Officials with the USF Bulls say Robbins has been suspended from all activities with the football team.
