After hosting the Bulls last year, you'd think the Birmingham Bowl would remember University of South Florida's name.

You'd be wrong.

Ads for the official bowl game apparel came out this week, bearing the name "South Florida University."

One of the major headlines coming from the University of South Florida's gala celebration of its Unstoppable Campaign reaching its billion dollar goal was the announcement of another $15 million gift from philanthropists Les and Pam Muma.

A new indoor training facility for the University of South Florida Bulls football team will be built at the Tampa campus.

Students are moving in this week to their homes for the school year at the University of South Florida.

While there are a number of new halls in "The Village" opening on the Tampa campus, St. Petersburg is packed beyond capacity, with 104 students living in a nearby hotel and apartment complexes that the university reached agreements with over the summer.

A former University of South Florida football player who was arrested for an on-campus sexual battery last week is back in jail after being arrested for another alleged assault this past March.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says LaDarrius Jackson, 22, sexually battered a woman he knew in the bathroom of her Hillsborough County home March 27.

The judge who questioned University of South Florida football coach Charlie Strong's control of the program following the arrests of two players has recused herself from one of their cases. 

ESPN reports that Hillsborough County judge and USF alumna Margaret Taylor submitted an order of disqualification Thursday morning after her earlier comments received national attention. Filing such an order removes her from as the judge in the LaDarrius Jackson case.

University of South Florida football player LaDarrius Jackson is being held without bond on charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment after allegedly attacking a female student in a residence hall on the Tampa campus Monday.

March Madness is coming back to Tampa, as the Amalie Arena has been selected as a host site for first and second round games in the 2020 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship.

Tampa police have charged a University of South Florida football player who was shot this past weekend in what they call a "road-rage incident."

A University of South Florida football player is in stable condition after being shot Saturday night in what Tampa police call a "road-rage incident." 

Hassan Childs, 22, a senior defensive back from Kissimmee, was shot three times in the incident at Eagles Point Apartments in the 14000 block of 46th Street, just north of the USF Golf Course.

According to a Tampa police statement, Childs was shot by Jovanni Jimenez, 26, after allegedly pointing a gun at Jimenez and his wife. Jimenez, a Tampa resident, told police he shot Childs in self defense.

Sierra Michaelis ended up being in the right spot at the right time for Missouri.

The senior guard was all alone under the basket and made the game-winning shot on a putback off an Amber Smith miss with 0.6 seconds remaining to give No. 6 seed Missouri a 66-64 win over No. 11 South Florida Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

While the University of South Florida women's team prepares to play in the NCAA tournament for the third straight season, the men's team has hired its third basketball coach this year.

Brian Gregory, a longtime assistant coach at Michigan State University and the former head coach for Dayton and Georgia Tech, was named USF's head coach Tuesday.

A pair of University of South Florida athletic teams are getting ready for post-season play.

The USF women's basketball team returns to the NCAA Tournament as an eleventh seed in the Stockton, California region. They play sixth seed Missouri in the first round at 5 p.m. Friday in Tallahassee. The winner will take on the winner of No. 3 seed Florida State and No. 14 Western Illinois Sunday.

Just three weeks after hiring new head football coach Charlie Strong, the University of South Florida has fired men's basketball coach, Orlando Antigua.

Antigua was hired in 2014 with much fanfare due to his success recruiting star players as an assistant coach at the University of Kentucky.

The University of South Florida's Quinton Flowers says there were a lot of big-name college football programs that thought he could be a star player. As a running back. Or maybe as a safety.

But Flowers knew he could be a great quarterback. And on Thursday in the Birmingham Bowl against a team from the Southeastern Conference, he proved it once again.

Flowers ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more — including what proved to be the winner in overtime — to help No. 25 South Florida beat South Carolina 46-39.

Days after he signed a five year, $9.8 million contract, Charlie Strong was formally introduced as the new head coach of the University of South Florida football team Thursday.

An eventful eight days for the University of South Florida football team saw them accept a bowl game bid, lose head coach Willie Taggart to Oregon and then replace him with a new leader - Charlie Strong.

USF released a statement Sunday afternoon saying the former University of Texas coach would be taking over the Bulls. Strong will formally be introduced as the coach Thursday, Dec. 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the USF Marshall Student Center.
