A state appeals court Monday upheld the second-degree murder conviction of a Jacksonville woman who shot a pregnant woman in the abdomen during a dispute in 2014 and fatally wounded the fetus.

'Bump Stock' Ban Proposed In Florida

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana has undergone surgery and will need further operations, after being shot by a man who opened fire with a rifle on an early morning baseball practice for Republican members of Congress in Alexandria, Va. Scalise was the most seriously injured of four victims of the shootings.

The U.S. Attorney has charged Esteban Santiago, the man in custody for carrying out the deadly shooting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida on Friday afternoon.

At least five people were killed and six others were injured in the shooting, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

Police are continuing their investigation in the shooting death of a 17-month-old girl at a Tampa apartment complex Sunday afternoon, officials said.

A woman died Monday morning at Florida Hospital in Tampa after her stepfather shot her and then killed himself.

Authorities say a Florida mom home with her two children has been shot multiple times after answering her front door.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's officials say 37-year-old Angela Morales heard several knocks at the door shortly after midnight Saturday while home with her husband and 9-year-old twins. That's when authorities say a man opened fire, hitting Morales multiple times.

She was hospitalized in critical condition.

  Update: The former Virginia journalist who killed two of his former co-workers, is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  WDBJ7-TV general manager Jeffrey Marks described Bryce Williams as a disgruntled employee who displayed "anger issues".

  A manhunt was underway in Thonotosassa after a sheriff's deputy was shot in the thigh early Thursday while responding to a 911 call about shots being fired in the neighborhood.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Col. Donna Lusczynski told local television stations that shots were fired in the direction of three arriving deputies around 12:30 a.m.

Nicole Oulsen, the wife of the theater shooting victim in Wesley Chapel, spoke out for the first time Wednesday.

Her husband, Chad Oulsen, was shot by former Tampa Police captain Curtis Reeves Jr. after an argument over Oulsen's texting his infant daughter's babysitter.

The couple was on a date night without their 22-month old daughter, Alexis.

A jury has acquitted 70-year-old retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Ralph Wald on charges of second-degree murder in the shooting death of a man who was having sex with Wald’s 42-year-old wife, the Tampa Bay Times reports. Attorney Joe Episcopo successfully invoked the “stand your ground” law, saying Wald shot the man because he thought his wife was being raped by an intruder. The wife said she was so drunk she doesn’t remember much. The couple said they would celebrate the verdict at a Waffle House.

Schools Tighten Security in Wake of Sandy Hook Tragedy

Friday's massacre at an elementary school in Connecticut has local officials on alert today.

After 26 people died at Sandy Hook Elementary School, officials in Hillsborough County are putting more law enforcement officers in elementary schools. Most elementary schools don't have a resource officer on campus like middle and high schools do. But deputies will be around this week.
