Leaders of local governments re-affirmed their commitment to reducing greenhouse gases, unanimously approving a historic environmental resolution Monday at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Miami Beach.

The 259 mayors in attendance voted in favor of a resolution titled "100% Renewable Energy in American Cities," agreeing to set a goal of powering their communities exclusively by wind, solar, geothermal and wave energy by the year 2035. 

Renewable Energy Issue To Go On Primary Ballot

Gov. Rick Scott on Friday signed a bill that will place on the Aug. 30 primary-election ballot a proposal that could give commercial property owners a tax break on renewable energy devices.

Study: Florida Third-Worst For Power Plant Pollution

Even though Florida is known for its sunshine, we have the third-worst carbon* pollution of any state, at least according to one report.

A citizen advocacy group, Environment Florida,  released a report today called "America's Dirtiest Power Plants."  Environment Florida used 2011 federal data to rank the dirtiest power plants nationwide. Florida ranks third in electric power sector emissions, particularly in carbon dioxide.
