Sen. Marco Rubio and his re-election opponent, Congressman Patrick Murphy, went hard at each other during their final scheduled debate Wednesday night, accusing each other of being ineffectual and accomplishing little in Washington.

After a campaign that seemingly has lasted years, the two main candidates for U.S. Senate finally met for a debate. Monday night's match in Orlando between incumbent Republican Marco Rubio and Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy revolved around a lot of allegations - and mostly about how little each other has accomplished while in office.

With Democrat Patrick Murphy making gains among independent voters, Republican incumbent Marco Rubio's lead in Florida's closely watched U.S. Senate race has narrowed to two points, according to a poll released Tuesday.

Rubio leads by a margin of 49 percent to 47 percent in the Quinnipiac University poll, which was conducted before the candidates battled in a televised debate Monday night. The two-point difference is within the poll's margin of error.

The battle of the airwaves is heating up in the race for Florida's U.S. Senate seat. So WUSF's Steve Newborn talks with PolitiFact Florida's Josh Gillin to look at two claims lobbed by a Republican lobbying committee against Democrat Patrick Murphy.

Marco Rubio has a 7 point lead in the race for Florida’s U-S Senate seat, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.

Democrat Patrick Murphy must have seemed like the perfect candidate when he announced he was running for U.S. Senate. The 33-year-old Palm Beach Congressman is young, telegenic and politically moderate.  But recently, a spate of controversies, along with GOP incumbent Marco Rubio’s surprise entry into the race, have called Murphy’s front-runner status into question.

Florida Democrats must decide whether their best shot at winning the Senate seat now held by Marco Rubio is a liberal firebrand who has said the GOP health plan was to hope people die quickly, or a moderate Democrat who often votes with Republicans.

Central Florida congressman Alan Grayson has gained national notoriety for his comments on the House floor, claiming that the only healthcare plan being offered by Republicans is to "hurry up and die."

Grayson, D-Orlando, doesn’t regret that comment or other remarks that have gotten him in trouble with the media and Democratic Party leaders.

A close friend and major Democratic Party donor says U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson is launching a campaign for the seat U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio is giving up.

Trial lawyer John Morgan said Wednesday that Grayson told him by email that he is running for Senate. Rubio is not seeking a second term because he's running for president. Grayson will announce his decision on Thursday.
