Can the deep-red Florida Statehouse follow Virginia and expand Medicaid?

Highly unlikely anytime soon, many state political analysts say.

The recent school shootings in Florida and Maryland have focused attention on the National Rifle Association’s clout in state and federal lobbying activities.

Democratic candidates were the only ones to show at a legislative forum organized by the Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative. And each one said Florida needs to take federal funding to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.

Students Weigh In on Midterm Elections

The University of South Florida conducted a straw poll on its Tampa campus to measure students' political opinions ahead of the November 4th midterm election.

92 percent of the 1,096 votes came from students and if the midterm elections were held now, 49 percent of the votes would go towards gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist. 

A majority of students preferred George Sheldon for Attorney General.
