There's little doubt Sen. Jack Latvala isn't the most politically correct lawmaker in Tallahassee.

The Clearwater Republican, who's been dogged for a week by accusations that he sexually assaulted or harassed female lobbyists and staff, even admits he's made remarks about women's appearances that could be construed as inappropriate.

Senate Appropriations Chairman Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, proposed a measure Friday that would set aside at least $50 million a year to help address issues such as beach erosion.

Revenge porn will be illegal, half-gallon beer growlers will be legal and cities like Waldo won't be able to set ticket quotas for police officers under three of the 27 bills Gov. Rick Scott signed on Thursday.

Among other new laws: it will be illegal to use drones to take photo or video of private property without consent of the owner and to impersonate a firefighter. Also, five new synthetic drugs were made illegal.

A bill allowing 64 ounce growlers is headed to the floor of the Florida Senate.

The Senate Commerce and Tourism committee took up the state’s growler ban Monday.  Measures doing away with the state’s restriction continue to march forward in both chambers of the Legislature.

After beer retailers and distributors challenged a legal exception that helps craft brewers open up tap rooms, two Florida senators put forward a measure doing away with the exception completely—in effect ensuring breweries can sell beer on-site.  But that original challenge hasn’t disappeared.

Pair Of Florida Republicans File Bill To Help Homeless

Homelessness eradication efforts would get more money under terms of a bill spearheaded by a pair of legislative Republicans.

Sen. Jack Latvala (R-Clearwater) and Rep. Kathleen Peters’ (R-South Pasadena) bills would offer annual challenge grants to agencies.

Latvala says the measure reestablishes funding the agencies once had access to.

A bill giving guideposts for determining whether Florida lawmakers live in their districts is headed for the full Legislature after passing its committee Wednesday. The bill gives the Senate final say when allegations arise that someone lives outside their district.

According to an article in the Sunday Tampa Bay Times, Bill Young II, son of longtime U.S. Representative C.W. Bill Young, and Chris Latvala, son of state Senator Jack Latvala, are both seriously considering runs for the Florida House.

The Jacksonville Times-Union, filed a public records request pertaining to the Senate's ethics reform package. Senator Jack Latvala from St. Petersburg wasn't happy and he "let them have it" with a string of profanities.
