Military families move a lot, and that makes it hard for service members’ spouses to hold steady jobs. About half of military spouses are either unemployed or underemployed – and that can take a toll on their families, their earning power, and the economy.

It was one week ago today when a man pulled a semi-automatic weapon from his luggage and killed five people and injured six others at the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport.

The suspect, Esteban Santiago, 26, is an Army veteran who served in Iraq. And that has an impact that reaches far beyond the airport.

State lawmakers want to make Florida the most veteran friendly in the nation. This session, lawmakers are sticking with that pledge, with a push to improve veteran employment and education.

Job Growth in Florida Holds Steady

Job Growth in Florida holds steady, according to The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.   Today the Agency released its unemployment report for the month of June, and the numbers indicate positive growth.

The state added 9,000 jobs in June, according to today's unemployment report.  This is the 23rd consecutive month of job growth in the state.  DEO chief economist Rebecca Rust says most employees gained jobs in four major fields.

Young Job Hunters Can Apply Through Virtual Job Fair

WorkNet Pinellas is hosting a virtual job fair. It's going on until May 26 and it's focusing on young people.

They're calling it 'Tampa Bay's Virtual Job Fair."  WorkNet Pinellas and its partners are giving employers an opportunity to post their job openings online for part-time, full-time, and summer internship positions for people ages 14 to 24.

It's free and since it's virtual that means applicants can stay in their pajamas while submitting their resumes.

2012 College Graduates Have an Improved Job Market

Recently, an Associated Press analysis said that half of recent college graduates were unemployed or underemployed. But there's good news for the class of 2012- these college graduates have a better job market.

According to the Lakeland Ledger, the outlook of finding a job has improved since the beginning of the recession in 2008.
