Roberto Roldan is a reporter with WUSF News, after serving as an intern in spring 2016.

At that time, he was a senior at the University of South Florida pursuing a degree in mass communications and a minor in international studies.

He has previously worked with the Tampa Bay Times, WMNF and The (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal, where he covered the wedding ceremonies in Kentucky of plaintiffs in the historic same-sex marriage case before the U.S. Supreme Court. In Tampa, he's covered everything from violent crime in Tampa’s university neighborhoods to the local music scene.

When he's not out reporting, Roldan enjoys seeing local bands and spending time in the outdoors.

Legislation on the move in the Florida Legislature could ban the use of red-light cameras and the millions in revenue they generate for local governments.

A bill sponsored by Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-St. Petersburg, would outlaw the ticketing cameras starting in 2019.

The hardest part of getting a business off the ground is finding resources and money.

Downtown Tampa will become a hub for creators and investors to meet starting Monday, February 8. The goal is to make launching a startup easier in the Bay area.

The excitement for Saturday's annual Gasparilla Parade is ramping up, but some local businesses along the parade route are closing down.

Many Americans watched in shock as the Space Shuttle Challenger disintegrated over the Florida sky 30 years ago.

U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, D-FL, was one of the viewers who had tuned in to the national broadcast. Then a U.S. representative, Nelson arrived back to earth only 10 days earlier after a six-day mission in space. 

It would be the final successful mission to space before the Challenger disaster.
