Things are heating up for the upcoming November election as the Constitutional Revision Commission unveils 24 proposals that may be seen on Florida ballots.

The CRC is a rare but powerful, handpicked group that only meets every 20 years. Committee members are selected by Florida's current governor, House, Senate, and the Supreme Court. The committee has the ability to choose, revise and merge what amendments are added to the upcoming state election.

In celebration of its 50th year in business, St. Petersburg-based Valpak will be mailing $100 checks to a few lucky people across the country every month this year. The only catch is that you have to open the “Blue Envelope” to see if you are a winner.

The Florida Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Expo is pushing the envelope for students interested in STEM subjects.

“Whereas STEM is very straight sense, science, technology, engineering, and math, STEMIE takes it that next step further,” says Tracy Zuluaga, Executive Director of Bright Young Minds Coalition. STEMIE adds emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship on to the traditional STEM curriculum.

Hackers, beware - the Florida Center for Cybersecurity has unveiled a service to help state universities teach students how to prevent cyber-attacks.

The resource is called the Florida CyberHub and includes a “Cybertown,” in which users monitor a simulated city’s virtual ecosystem and defend the different facilities against cyber-attacks. The CyberHub is designed to mimic a realistic cybersecurity experience.

Environmental advocates from around the country will be gathering at the University of South Florida for the Climate Action 2018 conference.
